Meet the Team
Prof. Slavica Ražić, PhD
Principal Investigator

Slavica Ražić is full professor and Chair of the Department of Analytical Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade. She is a member of Executive Boards of the European Chemical Society (EuChemS) and the Division of Analytical Chemistry (DAC-EuChemS). Slavica is also a Titular member of the Analytical Chemistry Division of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (ACD-IUPAC) and its representative in the Interdivisional Committee on Green Chemistry for Sustainable Development (ICGCSD).
Current research interests: Development of analytical methods for environmental and natural food samples, assisted by chemometric methods of analysis and in line with the principles of green and sustainable chemistry.
Particular attention is paid to unconventional, environmentally friendly solvents and extractions in sample preparation as well as the physico-chemical characterization of the extracts obtained using suitable separation and spectroscopic analysis techniques.

Dr. Jelena Arsenijević (Senior research associate)

Dr. Jelena Arsenijević, Senior research associate
Jelena Arsenijević is a senior research associate and a teaching assistant with doctorate at the Department of Farmacognosy at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade, with fifteen years of experience in medicinal plant research, focusing on the application of green chemistry methods for the preparation of herbal extracts and the analysis of bioactive plant compounds.
She will lead the activities involving extraction optimization, as well as phytochemical analyses and bioactivity testing of the extracts obtained from agricultural herbal waste, with the aim of exploring a broader potential of biowaste and its valorization.

Dr. Biljana Lončar (Senior research associate)
Team Member 2
Biljana Lončar is a senior research associate at the Faculty of Technology Novi Sad, University of Novi Sad. Her current research interests include processing and engineering of food and food by-products, foo d drying, mathematical modeling, machine learning and artificial neural networks.
She has experience in extraction processes, modeling and optimization of processes for isolation of bioactive compounds and will therefore contribute to WP2.
Dr. Sanja Panić (Senior research associate)
Team Member 3 – Leader of Work Package 3
Sanja Panić works as a senior research associate at the Faculty of Technology Novi Sad, University of Novi Sad. She has extensive research experience in the field of heterogeneous catalysis, especially in the field of synthesis and design of carbon-based nanocatalysts, their characterization and their application in sustainable development processes.
Her current research interests include the thermochemical conversion of biomass and the use of solid carbon-based products as adsorbents and catalyst support for wastewater remediation processes.

Jelena Tanasić (Research assistant)
Team Member 4
TBAJelena Tanasić is a research assistant at the Department of Materials Engineering at the Faculty of Technology in Novi Sad, University of Novi Sad. Her current research interests include the synthesis, design and characterization of polymers and inorganic materials for use in specific applications. She will contribute to WP3 and WP5 with her experience in structuring different types of materials and their applications, especially composites.

Dr. Mirjana Petronijević (Research associate)
Team Member 5 – Leader of Work Package 4
Mirjana Petronijević is a research associate at the Faculty of Technology Novi Sad, Serbia. She holds a PhD in the field of water treatment processes and environmental protection. She works on the use of enzyme-based technologies for the removal of various pollutants from different water matrices, process optimization and toxicity assessment.

Dr. Svetlana Đogo Mračević (Associate professor)
Team Member 6
Svetlana Đogo Mračević is an associate professor at the Department of Analytical Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade, with more than twenty years of research experience in environmental and food chemistry. She is particularly interested in the assessment of the distribution, accumulation, mobility and bioavailability of pollutants in various environmental matrices and their impact on human health, including health risk assessment. She will actively support the experimental work focusing on wastewater treatment processes within WP4.

Dr. Jovana Topalić (Research associate)
Team Member 7
Jovana Topalić is employed as a research associate at the Department of Civil Engineering and Geodesy at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad. Her areas of interest are project management and risk management in the field of wastewater. She will actively support the analyses (SWOT and cost-benefit) for the potential use of the new materials. These analyses will directly break down the economic benefits and potential of introducing new materials.

Dr. Marina Aškrabić (Assistant professor)
Team Member 8 – Leader of Work Package 5
Marina Aškrabić is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Belgrade. She is a member of the Faculty’s Building Materials Laboratory team. Her area of expertise is the physical, mechanical and durability properties of composite building materials, especially mortar and concrete. She will be actively involved in the development and testing of the newly developed materials.

Dr. Nenad Grba (Senior research associate)
Team Member 9 – Leader of Work Package 6
Nenad Grba works as a senior research Associate at the Faculty of Science, University of Novi Sad. His areas of expertise are fluid mechanics – especially hydrodynamics, transport of fluids, heterogeneous flow systems, fluidization, coagulation, flocculation, aeration, sedimentation, filtration, centrifugation and adsorption processes using various sorbents for water purification from laboratory to large scale (TRL 1 to TRL 9). Nenad will be actively involved in the testing of the novel bio-linked geopolymer composites.

Dr. Aleksandra Cvetanović Kljakić (Principal research fellow)
Team Member 10
Aleksandra Cvetanović Kljakić is a principal research fellow at the Faculty of Technology Novi Sad. Her research focuses on the extraction and isolation of bioactive molecules of natural origin and their biological and chemical characterization. She has received numerous national and international awards for her work, including the October Medal for her contribution to the development of technological progress and the Danubius Award for the best young scientist in Serbia in 2019. By decision of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, she was ranked in the top 10% of outstanding scientists in Serbia. She is involved in activities related to the extraction of plant waste from the food industry as part of the BioCompWaterClean project.
